Excited to share today Stranger at the Gate, a collection of demo recordings which eventually led to my most recent album, New Love Meditation (released June 2024).

These are stripped down versions that I recorded at the end of 2022, in between all the things that come along with being a new parent. Kass Richards shares a new song, “Gardens,” from her forthcoming album New Love Meditation, out June 24, 2024 on Good Cry Records. “Gardens” was produced by Richards and Maximilian ‘Twig’ Turnbull and features Richards on guitar and vocals; Geordie Gordon on bass/synths; Ed Squires on percussion, and Simone TB on drums.

The song is presented alongside a visualizer created by Richards, consisting of Penny Slinger-inspired grainy photocopied close-ups of Richards’ face, hair, and hands. “Gardens” follows “Blue,” which came out last month with a stunningly trippy video by New Mexico-based artist Sara Ludy.

Aidan Coughlan and Kass Richards have shared another song from When We Were Wolves, their digital album out February 14. The song, “The Three Faces of Eve,” is available now with preorder on Bandcamp and a lyric video can be viewed here.

Kass Richards and Portland, OR singer-songwriter Aidan Coughlan announce duet-style album, When We Were Wolves, out February 14, 2024 via Good Cry Records. The digital-only release was recorded at Coughlan’s and Richards’ respective homes over the course of 2023, and has a lo-fi, live recording feel—the occasional creaking chair adding to that charm—but also an expansive, at times surreal quality, thanks to layered synths, dynamic percussion choices, and stellar songwriting by Coughlan.

Love, loss, betrayal, and heartbreak run throughout this piercing collection of songs, with Richards’ and Coughlan’s emotive vocals front and center. The duo’s voices blend in an uncanny way, at times sounding like a two-headed, one-bodied singer. Soundtrack for the brokenhearted. Buckle up.
